During daylight hours enjoy the natural beauty of Rock City, the Lookout Mountain Incline Railroad and Ruby Falls, a thundering waterfall inside Lookout Mountain, all within a short drive of Ellijay.
   
CHRISTMAS TREES!
During November and December, plan to pick out your Christmas tree at one of the various tree farms in the Georgia Mountains.  Not only will you take home your fresh mountain tree, but you also take with you the memories of your trip and your mountain experience choosing your tree in the North Georgia Mountains. We highly recommend Southern Tree Plantation in Blairsville for trees and a lot of fun.  
   
TRAINS!
Ride the Christmas Express to the North Pole on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway for a fun-filled holiday treat complete with a visit from Santa.

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway
celebrates the holidays with The Christmas Express -- twenty festive, fun-filled train rides. Passengers will be treated to holiday refreshments at the depot before boarding. On board, they will hear Christmas stories, sing Christmas carols with elves, and visit with the North Pole's jolliest elf himself during the ride.

Take a ride to Chattanooga to ride the Christmas train on the Tennessee Valley Railraod, the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Since 1999, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum has been carrying all the good boys and girls of Chattanooga and surrounding areas to the North Pole for a visit with Santa Claus. This year, TVRM is proud to announce that Jolly Old St. Nicholas has once again asked that we extend our services and take everybody back to the North Pole again!
Santa’s elves have been busy preparing the tracks and we hear that they’ll be routed through locations such as Santa’s Workshop! Storytellers are buying fresh copies of The Polar Express to read to everybody and Yoo-hoo is busy filling up bottles so that all the children will have something to drink on the trip!
Santa has even arranged for our station to keep everyone warm and dry while waiting for the North Pole Limited to arrive, complete with a dining area for those with an appetite.

Live Nativity Scene is wonderful, with all the little animals and 'Away in a Manger' playing in the background. You'll enjoy the true spirit of Christmas with this very special addition during the holiday season at the farm. Last tour for the Christmas Maze and Live Nativity is 8:30 p.m.
Christmas tree corn maze is an over 300 foot tree with 3800 feet of garland and lights! Find your way through from the tree trunk to the star on top!
   
SNOW!
 In winter, the peaceful serenity of Mountaintown Creek and the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains will let you relax, rest and restore your well being. If you are lucky, you may experience the stillness and pristine sparkling beauty of snow in the North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains.  Although the snow will not last very long, you will be treated to a sparkling winter wonderland even if it is temporary.  
   
WARMTH AT THE HEARTH!
 Get away from the dreariness of winter and enjoy the evergreen color of evergreen hemlocks, rhododendrons and laurels while enjoying the whitewater river, wildlife and scenery. SKIING
Take a  drive over to Lookout Mountain for a day of skiing at Cloudmont Ski and Golf Resort near Rock City and Ruby Falls.  Cloudmont is open daily and nightly during season when temperatures at night drop to 28 degrees to make snow.  Cloudmont is the southernmost ski area in the United States.

ICE SKATING IN DAHLONEGA!
New last year!  Ice skating at Hancock Park in Dahlonega begins November 18th.

   

ICE SKATING IN CENTENNIAL OLYMPIC PARK IN ATLANTA!
November  10, 2007 - January 6, 2008
Atlanta’s only outdoor ice skating rink at Centennial Olympic Park opens November 10, 2007 and the rink will remain open until January 6, 2008. Visitors can enjoy covered observation seating, theatrical lighting on the real ice and holiday music. Closed on Dec. 25 for Christmas Day. Admission is $6 per person for a 90 minute session and skate rental is an additional $2.
