Ride along the Toccoa River on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad to experience views.  Riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is an exciting ride where you can enjoy shopping for gifts, souvenirs and antiques in North Georgia Mountains quaint villages. If you can't find what you are looking for in Blue Ridge, you may discover in McCaysville, Georgia or Copperhill, Tennessee where train passengers debark for lunch, exploration and  shopping before returning to the Blue Ridge Georgia depot.  The train ride through the scenic Georgia Mountains overlooking the beautiful Toccoa River is a delightful adventure for everybody.

Eagle Mountain General Store at the Coosawattee River Tubing Company at the entrance to the Coosawattee River Resort in Ellijay offers tubing, kayaking rentals, fly fishing clinics.  If you are planning on being in Ellijay on the weekend, join them on the weekend evenings for one of  many special events. They are having lots of fun things happening at the Eagle Mountain General Store. There will be special events like Pickin' on the Porch, Movies Under the Stars, marshmallow roasts, and much more! Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum - Chattanooga The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum offersr a wide variety of rides to suit your needs. For a quick trip, the Missionary Ridge Local takes only 55 minutes but packs all sorts of excitement from a ride through a Civil War era tunnel to a guided tour of the restoration shop. Looking for something a little longer? Try the Chickamauga Turn, a 6 hour roundtrip ride to historic Chickamauga, Ga.

Sugar Creek Raceway - Open seasonally from the third Friday in March to the third Friday in September, this raceway offers dirt track car racing every Friday night on a high banked clay oval track. The gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the races start 7:30 p.m. Located on Sugar Creek in between Ellijay and Blue Ridge. From Blue Ridge, take Scenic Drive, then head south on Sugar Creek. From downtown Ellijay, take Boardtown toward Blue Ridge. Boardtown turns into Sugar Creek. 706-632-9083

John C. Campbell  Folk School Brasstown, NC 28902
John C. Campbell Folk School provides experiences in non-competitive learning and community life that are joyful and enlivening. Located in scenic Brasstown, North Carolina, the Folk School offers year-round weeklong and weekend classes for adults in craft, art, music, dance, cooking, gardening, nature studies, photography and writing.
Free concerts are held most Friday nights and feature some of the finest regional and national acts performing old-time, bluegrass, folk, gospel and Celtic music. We also offer occasional non-Friday concerts of various, entertaining types, so be sure to check this section often for our upcoming schedule.

Celebrate the rich heritage, history and culture of the Appalachian Mountains at the  annual Fall Festival, featuring  200 craftspeople, continuous live music and dance on two stages, craft demonstrations, food, kid's activities and much more.
The Folk School offers numerous nature trails open to the public during daylight hours. You'll find many interesting points on the scenic paths: the Rainbow Bridge, the Herb Garden and the Corn Maiden

The Folk School's Craft Shop represents more than 300 juried craftspeople and features an impressive collection of traditional and contemporary Appalachian craft, including jewelry, pottery, wood, fiber, ironwork, basketry and other disciplines. You'll find marquetry earrings, clay serving platters, turned-wood bowls, functional fireplace poker sets and many more unique items. The Craft Shop is also proud to be the home of the world-renowned Brasstown Carvers.

A book room houses hundreds of instructional and celebratory books on everything from Basketry to Writing. Buy a few art supplies or a CD from our collection of traditional Appalachian music. If you’re visiting the school and decide to join them for a meal in the Olive Dame Campbell Dining Hall, you may see students experience a Pavlovian-type response to the traditional ringing of the red, handforged bell tower that signals the serving of each meal. When it rings, they know they’re in for a savory and nutritious meal amid good camaraderie. Join in  non-denominational blessing at the beginning of each meal, then, in  family-style way, pass around heaping bowls and platters of delicious food.

Chef Steve Cipriano and his staff craft nutritious and tasty menus that are varied and well regarded. The  organic garden provides much of the content of our wonderful salads and fresh vegetable dishes. Vegetarian meal options are always available.

Take a trip to Germany while visiting the lovely Bavarian alpine village of Helen which features cobblestone alleys and German alpine village buildings. Rock City Lookout Mountain
Located atop Lookout Mountain, just 6 miles from downtown Chattanooga, Rock City is a true marvel of nature featuring massive ancient rock formations, gardens with over 400 native plant species, and breathtaking "See 7 States" panoramic views. Take an unforgettable journey along the Enchanted Trail where each step reveals natural beauty and wonders.
Rock City will amaze you, it's in our nature. Only six miles from downtown Chattanooga, Rock City is 1700 feet above sea level, with a 100-foot waterfall that cascades down the mountain, and the famous Swing-A-Long bridge that spans nearly 200 feet. This self guided tour along the brow of Lookout Mountain gives visiters a birds eye view from hith atop Lookout Mountain.
Some of Rock City's other features include the climbing wall at Lover’s Leap where you can “See Seven States,” the birds of prey shows, Big Rock Grill and the Fairyland Caverns. In addition Rock City host numerous special events and festivals year round including; the Enchanted Maize, the Enchanted Garden of Lights, Rocktoberfest, Shamrock City and m more.

The Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world, which houses over 500 different species.

The Pool Room has a family atmosphere which contains an interesting collection of history, memorabilia and pictures about Bill Elliott's NASCAR career and also features the early moonshine runners of Dawsonville.
