Ellijay Apple Orchards - Apple Picking - Georgia Apple Festival

Many of these Ellijay Georgia apple orchards offer a year round selection of baked goods including apple pies and breads, different kinds of cider, apple juice, gifts, local crafts. In summer, be sure to try the freshly picked Georgia peaches. Many of the North Georgia Mountains Ellijay orchards feature pick-your-own apples in the fall. Most of the apple orchards are located on GA 52 west out of Ellijay on the road to Burt's Pumpkin Farm, Amicalola Falls and Dahlonega. In addition, visit the Georgia Apple Festival held in Elijay on the second and third weekends of October. The Georgia Apple festival with over 300 vendors highlights any craft, art,food, music,demonstation, interpretive program celebrating the Georgia apple in Ellijay.

Celebrate the "Georgia Apple" at the Georgia Apple Festival in Ellijay held for two consecutive weekends in October. This is highly popular festival so make your cabin reservations very early in the year to be assured of lodging for the special event.

If you plan to pick-your-own apples, several Ellijay apple orchards offer the chance to pick apples on special dates in September and October.

The apple harvests begin as early as July depending upon the apple varieties. The Ellijay orchards begin opening their doors where you can buy freshly picked Georgia Mountains apples, apple cider, apple jam, apple breads. Nothing tastes better than a freshly picked apple for a special treat! Buy directly from the growers for fresh and reasonably priced apples.

After celebrating the apple with the local folks in the North Georgia Mountains, you may be convinced that Georgia may not just be the Peach State anymore!

The newly remodeled bakery has an abundant selection of their famous fried apple pies, assorted pies including apple, peach, coconut, apple danishes, homemade fudge, apple cider doughnuts, and homemade breads.You’ll just have to try one of our famous fried apple pies. People come from far away for these homemade goodies. Also try the selection of honey, canned goods including jams, apple butters, pickles, sorghum syrup and more.

Try out the apple cannon for the sharp shooter in the family. See if you can smash the apple with one of the cannons from 500 ft. away! (Minimal fee required - open on weekends only)

Visit Rex and our friendly animals at our Petting Farm. But be cautious, if you scare the goats they will faint! (Minimal fee required - open on weekends only)

Or relax and watch the kids play while listening to live Bluegrass Music on the weekends with food on the grounds. Who knows, you might get in on some line dancing or square dancing lessons!

Hillcrest Orchards offers an entire Georgia Mountain farm experience for the whole family with wagon rides, moonshine museum, pedal cart track, pig races, petting farm, nature trail, a hay maze, and pick your own apples in September only. Pies and fritters, doughnuts, ice cream and homemade fudge. Family owned and operated since 1946. Daily hours: 9 - 6pm August - November. 9 miles east of Ellijay on Hwy 52 in Apple Alley.

Mercier Orchards , Bakery and Gift Store, Blue Ridge

Your vacation to the North Georgia Mountains will be complete with a visit to Mercier Orchards for their famous and delicious fried apple pies. Mercier features pick your own apples on weekends in September along with wagon rides to and from the orchards.

Family fruit business since 1927. More than 20 varieties of apples grown as well as peaches and vegetables and apples are sold July through January. Ice cream, vegetables, homemade jams and jellies, Georgia mountain honey, pressed cider, pumpkins and fresh-baked pies along with other baked goodies are sold at their farmstand market. R & A Orchards is a family run apple orchard that began in 1947. Peach picking starts around June 1, along with some early season apples. Apple season runs from the beginning of August until the beginning of December. Vegetables available until frost in the fall.
